Fort Mill’s Favorite Time of Year is Here, SC Strawberry Festival 2018
Get ready to see all things strawberry this weekend in Fort Mill. In case you haven't heard, the 9th Annual SC Strawberry Festival will be held on May 4-5 at Walter Elisha Park. With 135 business vendors and over 40 food vendors, you will not be disappointed! Be prepared to pay $5 for parking, otherwise admission is free.
It's worth checking out if you are new to Fort Mill. With an attendance of over 60,000 people last year, this is a great opportunity get to know people around the town.
The festival kicks off at 5 p.m. on Friday May 4, with the National Anthem followed by FREE outdoor concerts the rest of the night. Make sure to come hungry because you will find yourself smelling lots of goodies including fried Oreos, Krispy Kreme burgers, sweet roasted corn and so much more.
Before you head to the festival on Saturday, stop by Nation Ford High School from 8-11 a.m. for the annual Strawberry Festival pancake breakfast in support of their football program. For just $6 you can eat as many pancakes topped with fresh strawberries as you want!
In case all that food talk doesn't already have you putting the Strawberry Festival on your weekend agenda, there will also be eating contests and a family fun area sponsored by Family Trust. Take your pick between ice cream, strawberry shortcake, or hot wings and sign up for one of the eating contest. Registration is on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
While you are waiting for the contests to start, the Strawberry Festival Car Show, presented by Dixie Land Cruisers, will be held just outside of the park grounds. Pig races will also take place from 12-3 p.m. Just be sure to wash your hands after any contact with the animals.
Also back by popular demand is Wrestling for a Reason. This event will be held all day Saturday with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society. Fireworks start at 10 p.m. on Saturday night, so make sure to grab your last bite of food and find a spot to sit and enjoy the show.
Don’t forget to swing by the Official Strawberry Festival Merchandise Tent near the playground to get a t-shirt or poster so you won't forget Fort Mill’s best event!
