Looking for a Mama Group? FIT4MOM Program Supports Community and Wellbeing

Are you expecting or have a little one of your own? FIT4MOM Fort Mill and Rock Hill is a fitness program for moms in all stages of motherhood! From pre-baby to post-baby, this program offers support for new and experienced moms and provides a place where they can focus on their health, interact with other moms, and bond with their kids.

In October 2017, Owner Tamara Galloway found herself without local mom friends and looking for fun things to do with her little guy. Having attended FIT4MOM classes in Charlotte, she realized moms in Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Tega Cay, and Indian Land could also benefit from a community of mom friends and a great workout. And so was born FIT4MOM Fort Mill and Rock Hill!

"Our classes train mothers for functional daily living and for motherhood," Galloway said. "We do a lot of squats in class because mothers squat to pick up children. We strengthen the back muscles because mothers lift everything from car seats to tricycles to toddlers."

There are two different classes: Stroller Strides and Fit4Baby. Stroller Strides is a class for moms who want to bring their child with them to workout. Moms bring any type of stroller and their children for an active workout that includes intervals, strength training and cardio, all while incorporating songs, bubbles, books and activities to keep the little ones happy! Stroller Strides classes are held outdoors at Rock Hill’s BMX Track. Classes are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings

Fit4Baby is FIT4MOM’s prenatal fitness class that blends cardio, strength, flexibility and balance. Women at all stages of their pregnancy can take this class to prep for the changes the body undergoes during pregnancy and childbirth. These classes are held Tuesday evenings at 6:45pm at The Gym at 214 Main in Downtown Fort Mill.

To encourage the community support and bonds of the mamas, they also coordinate weekly playgroups, monthly Mom’s Nights Out, and quarterly community service projects.

"It's more than just fitness," Galloway said. "It's connection. It's support. It's an understanding ear and a compassionate shoulder. My favorite phrase is 'Motherhood should never be done alone.' This was my inspiration when I started FIT4MOM and it is what motivated me every day since."

The first class is always free to try out! Visit fortmill.fit4mom.com to find out more. Mamas will come for the workout, but stay for the bonds, encouragement and experiences offered.
