Brody's Booties: A holiday drive to benefit little patients at Levine Children's Hospital!

On Christmas night in 2019, Fort Mill dentist Katie Macken's youngest son was in respiratory distress at 8 months old. He had been fussy all day, but his condition began to quickly decline at bedtime. The triage nurse advised them to leave immediately for Levine Children's Hospital emergency department or call 911- but do not wait. He was admitted and they stayed for a few days until he was able to breathe sufficiently on his own.
Once he was feeling better, the hospital provided toys for him to play with and help distract him. He also began pulling off all of his sensors constantly- EXCEPT for the pulse oximeter on his toe... He had just received fleece booties in his stocking from Santa, and happened to be wearing them when they came to the hospital. Those booties kept him from pulling off that one sensor!
This season, Orchard Grove Family Dentistry would like to begin an annual "Brody's Booties" drive to collect these fleece booties, and other items to help provide small comfort to other families with children spending time in the hospital during the holiday season.
We have included the link to the Levine Children's hospital wish list and a photo of the booties we had. Please consider making a donation. We will collect the items at our office until December 2nd. You may also choose to have items shipped directly to our office: 1550 North Dobys Bridge Suite 101 Fort Mill SC 29715.
