ROCK HILL, S.C., April 1, 2025 ― Piedmont Medical Center is partnering with Hospice and Community Care in Rock Hill, a nonprofit organization, to launch a donation drive aimed at supporting its Caring Closet.

Hospice and Community Cares’s Caring Closet allows community members in need to borrow durable medical equipment, free of charge. Neighbors can also receive adult diapers, gloves, bed covers and more at no cost. The Caring Closet is run by volunteers.  Just in 2024 more than 3,000 people reached out for assistance.

The “Compassion in Action” donation drive will run from April 7, 2025, to April 14, 2025. Community members are encouraged to participate by donating adult size pull-up, cleansing wipes, and gently used medical equipment such as wheelchairs, transport chairs, and rollators.  Designated boxes will be located at the main entrances of Piedmont Medical Center Rock Hill, Piedmont Medical Center Fort Mill and Gold Hill Emergency Department.

Piedmont Medical Center’s has worked alongside Hospice and Community Care for many years to make sure patients who are being discharged from Piedmont facilities have the medical equipment or supplies they may need. This donation drives furthers the ongoing partnership to strive to make sure patients and their loved ones are prepared for the healthcare journey ahead.

“We are thrilled to continue to collaborate with Hospice and Community Care through the Compassion in Action donation drive” says Teresa Urquhart, Market CEO of Piedmont Medical Center. “This partnership will provide much-needed support to families facing an illness or just in need of assistance along their health journey. We hope to see the community rally behind this important cause.”
